Under $3,000, you're shopping for an infrared cabin. Barrels and cubes start well above that, even on sale. The good news is that a well-made one-person infrared cabin is affordable, as long as you're realistic about size and warranty.

One step up

For about $3,600, Salus's Nirvana 2-Person offers more room and a 7-year limited warranty, with far-infrared carbon panels on 120V, 15A. Its maker lists EMF of 3 to 5 milligauss at 2 to 3 inches from the panels.

Past that, the Maxxus Full Spectrum at $5,058 adds near-infrared heaters.

What to watch for at this price

  • Real capacity: "1–2 person" cabins are usually comfortable for one.
  • Warranty: check the coverage on heaters and electronics separately.
  • EMF claims: manufacturer figures measured inches from the panels aren't comparable with figures measured at the seat. See our low-EMF guide.
